True Beauty

Hi Everyone
Thanks for dropping by today.

I usually post for Craft-Dee BowZ on the 1st Tuesday of each month, However since September 1 is the day CDB announces the challenge winner and its also the day all us designers post our inspiration projects, I decided to post on another day. Since there are 5 Tuesdays in September, I pushed my post date to the 5th Tuesday of September, and that's today. And that means that tomorrow is the last day in September. I can't believe October will be here in 2 days, Holy Moly!!!

Each month we designers have a theme for our posts and the theme for September was a choice between numbers or steampunk. And since steampunk, is a fun theme, I went with that. Because I knew this theme was coming up, I had been picking up a few things for this theme and setting them aside. So I finally pulled out all  my goodies and put together this 9"X12" panel. I decided on the layout and hot glued things down. I don't want anything falling off. LOL  Here is the end result.

If you notice this time I didn't make a bow. I made a tassel instead. I thought it was a perfect fit for those keys. Tassels were grand  during the Victorian era. Since Steampunk is Victorian-esque, I thought the tassel would be a perfect embellishment for this theme.

Here is a close-up of the tassel and it's right by those keys. I used seam binding instead of ribbon or bakers twine to make my tassel. After I finished making the tassel, I cut the dangly pieces in half because I felt they were too wide.

.

A tassel made with the Craft-Dee BowZ??  Sure. With that bow maker you can make tassels as well. That tool is so versatile. Donna has a video that walks you thru making a tassel using the CDB tool. Click here to view the video, its just a little over 3 minutes long.

This was a fun project to make and since it's a panel, it will make a nice display in my home.

Steampunk it is!

It's the fourth Tuesday of the month...and that means it's my turn to post on Craft-Dee BowZ. I love how this team of four each gets our own Tuesday every month to make a project and be featured. It's hard to be the fourth Tuesday of the month, though, as the projects from my fellow design team members have preceded me and they are truly outstanding projects! And here's some fabulous news.  Our team of four have decided to stay together for 2016!

The Design Team had two topics to chose from: Numbers or Steampunk and the colors we used were brown, burgundy and copper.  I chose the theme Steampunk and incorporated all three colors on my card. These are great autumn colors!

I used a pre-colored image from The Paper Shelter but colored over some of the already colored areas so that I could include the color burgundy. I also used digital paper from The Paper Shelter for my background. I love this very girly Steampunk girl! Remember, YOUR challenge for September at Craft-Dee BowZ is ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HANDMADE BOW.

I used a Spellbinders die for burgundy paper around my image and the "stitched" oval die is by My Favorite Things, the gears are a die by Memory Box and the clock is a die by Marianne. My favorite dies are ovals since most of my images look nice in that shape on my square cards. I colored all my silver screw heads, clock and padlock charms with copper paint.  I used wide double sticky tape behind my brad looking lace and then sprinkled Sahara Glitter Ritz over it so between the areas of the black mesh, you see the glitter. I then colored all the silver tack strip with my copper brown colored Copic pen. The tan meshy ribbon was sent to me by Donna at Craft-Dee BowZ along with the charms; thanks, Donna! After I tied my bow using my Craft-Dee BowZ tool, I tightly wrapped thin copper metallic thread from Stampin' Up around the middle to add more copper on my card.

The Team has created fabulous projects for you this month and I hope you've enjoyed looking at them so far. If you haven't see them, please cruise the Craft-Dee BowZ Challenge Blog and take a look at them. If you haven't made a card or project for the challenge at Craft-Dee BowZ, you still have a week+ to make a creation for our monthly challenge of ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HANDMADE BOW.

                                                                                          Hugs,

A little Steampunk set

Hi
It is my turn to show you my project  for the Craft-Dee BowZ challenge blog...The challenge at Craft-Dee BowZ for you this month is as usual:  ANYTHING GOES WITH A HANDMADE BOW.
The theme for the DT this month is  "Steampunk" .I have made this card and gift bag for you using a cute digital image from Stitchy bear BbCakes called steampunk hat .I coloured her with promarkers .The large clock die cut is from Tim Holtz and sizzix.I also used a TH clocks embossing folder.which I have distressed with distress ink.The papers are from Tim Holtz also ...
as are the metal embellishments...I have a bit of a Tim Holtz fest going on here .!!!
The Hessian I used for the back panel and gift bag  and the lovely twine ribbon were sent as part of my monthly MPP. I also  made a cute  draw string gift  bag to match .

The jute/ string  ribbon was turned into a perfect bow using my Craft-Dee BowZ BOW MAKER. This amazing easy to use tool turns out perfect bows every time no matter what size or what type of ribbon or string you use as you can see from the tiny twine bow I made to hang the key from.

Here are close ups of the fab bows...

I hope you like my projects for this month and that they inspire you to enter into  the challenge at Craft-Dee BowZ where ANYTHING GOES WITH A HANDMADE BOW.
Happy Crafting
Tracey

Steampunk Inspiration!

Vicki here and it's time for my September Craft-Dee BowZ Design Team post.  This month we are working with one of my favorite themes....Steampunk!  We are also using numbers, and the colors turquoise and brown.  I chose to alter a Maya Road Chipboard Tag Box that has been in my stash for quite a while.  It contains eight altered chipboard tags with inspirational quotes on them.

 Altered Chipboard Tag Box

The front of the box is embellished with a butterfly that I die-cut in triplicate and layered to give it dimension, die-cut gears, metal charms and pearls.  The chipboard word "me" is embossed with distressed Tea Dye and Turquoise Glitter powders.

Left side view.

Right side view.

 Box back view.

I added die-cut gears, metal flowers and butterflies along with pearls on the left, right and back sides of the box.  The burlap and rhinestone trim are wrapped around the top of the bottom box section.

Here's a view of the box with the top section removed.
Inside the box are 8 chipboard tags that I have also altered.

The tags are chained together and fit perfectly inside the box.  Each tag is altered on both sides...the back side of the tag contains an inspirational quote.  This is also where I used the number theme.  Below are several tags that I chose as my favorites.  There were just too many photos to add them all to the post.

The tags are also numbered on the side with the inspirational quote.  I used lots of die-cuts, flowers, and metal numbers on the tags.  The little turquoise ribbon and twine bows were made with my Craft-Dee BowZ Tool.

This "BOW"!  I love this striped ribbon that came in our DT product this month.  It couldn't be anything less than perfect since it was made using my awesome Craft-Dee BowZ Bow Making Tool.  It sure makes creating fabulous bows quick and easy!
